Rodney Carpenter (ROC) developed his interest in art while growing up in the east side communities of Cleveland, Ohio. The talents and work ethics of the local artists were important influences on his career choice. ROC is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, and he teaches and shows his works in galleries and other venues. His unique style merges the character of his subjects with the media used to create the art. Among other things, ROC likes to use collage to form layers that connect the subject and theme. His art displays beautiful people and their accomplishments, despite the challenges that they may have to deal with on a daily basis. His art also links history, pride, beauty, and the struggles of urban communities in America.
Freedom Marchers, 2020 - (*One of a series of three) Watercolor on Paper, 11" ×14"
As an artist and a friend of the arts, Bonnie Venable owned an art gallery, was an independent art dealer, volunteered with local arts organizations, taught art, and curated private and corporate art exhibitions. She loves the excitement of creating her art and communicating that special something that she sees in her subjects.
